Backpack

The primary breathing circuit utilises a unique double counterlung to accommodate the diver’s breathing rather than using a demand regulator to control the flow of gas from the surface to the diver and back pressure regulator to control the flow of gas back from the diver to the surface. This counterlung is incorporated into the backpack which also includes an alternative rebreather.

A demand regulator is also provided in the event that there is a fault in the counterlung. This is supplied either from the surface or the diver’s backup cylinders.

If the umbilical is disconnected or there a fault in the surface equipment, the diver activates the rebreather.

Semi Closed Circuit or Fully Closed Circuit Option

The semi closed circuit option uses a mechanical system to add oxygen rich gas based on the diver’s breathing rate and depth providing the 1.5 hours of back up needed for decompression when diving to 50m.

A fully closed circuit backpack with electronically controlled oxygen makeup and a larger scrubber would provide up to 5 hours backup which would be a suitable backup for dives to around 100m.
